Saved stories. When you press “Save” on a story, the list of saved stories is kept in your browser’s local storage. It never leaves your device, and you can delete it by clearing your browser’s site data.
Staff sign-in. Our editors and writers receive essential cookies when they log in to manage the Site. Readers never receive them.

Third-party services

Some parts of the Site load content from other companies, which may set their own cookies or collect technical information under their own privacy policies:

GoDaddy, our hosting provider, may load a script that measures the Site’s traffic and performance.
Gravatar (Automattic) serves our writers’ profile photos.
MailerLite processes newsletter sign-ups and may use tracking in the newsletter emails to count opens and clicks.
Embedded content. Stories may include videos or posts embedded from services such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram or X, which may set cookies when you view or play them.

Advertisements currently on the Site are images placed directly by us. They do not use advertising cookies. Clicking an ad takes you to the advertiser’s website, which has its own cookie policy.

Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser’s settings. Most browsers explain how in their help pages. Blocking cookies will not stop you from reading the Site.
